the emulsion layer (but to cause no scratch on its base.)
( d ) The top and the lowest positions of the pricking needle are adjustable in
accordance with the thickness of the layer of the material used as the
diapositive as the case may be where dry plate, or film, or any other
material is used.
('e ) An opal glass is prepared in order to receive the light emitted from the
illuminating light source and obliquely illuminating the emulsion surface
and to get brilliant field of view in the case of observation. This opal
glass presents itself steadily direct under the pricking needle during ob
servation whereas at the moment when the push button is pressed which
allows the pricking needle to be operated, the opal glass will be turned
from the position directly under the pricking needle toward outside and
will come to stop at the position when the pricking needle is not prevented
to descend. Furthermore, in order to return the opal glass directly under
the pricking needle after one operation of pricking is over, another but
ton shall be pressed.
