controls the intensity of the electron beam. The deflection of
the beam is geometrically similar and synchronized with the two
scanning tubes. The scale of the image is changed electronically
as a function of the instantaneous height of the space rod inter
section, as reguired by the geometric relationships for orthophoto
graphy. Since the light spot of the scanning cathode ray tube is
imaged at reduced scale on the dispositive and scanning is re
stricted to relatively small zones, resolution of the television
image on the orthophoto printing tube can be increased sufficiently
to avoid any loss of details.
The printing cathode ray tube is mounted face upwards on a carriage
which rolls on a table mounted at the back of the B8. The carriage
is driven by the same system of steel bands that drives the tracing
stand. The table with the steel band system, the cross rails, and
the triangular base-plate of this carriage, can be seen in Figure 6.
