Fig. 3a: X —Discrpancies /\X Between Adjacent Strips
If the standard total differences in the last line of Table II are divided by V 2
the following standard errors for an individual strip in the block are obtained:
M x = ± 5.6 m,
M Y = i 7.8 m,
M H = ± 9.9 m.
From the true errors at the test points provided by the Presidence of the Group
of Study for Experimental Researches on Blocks of Strips, International Society
of Photogrammetry, the standard errors (root mean square errors) M x , M y , and
M H (M z ) were determined. For this purpose all errors larger than 60 m were elimin
ated, as suggested by the Presidence, since such errors are obviously blunders and,
therefore, should not be used to test the accuracy of the block triangulation.
In performing this error analysis it was found that a typing error of 50 m was
committed for the F-coordinate of the test point No. 137. Correction of this error
results in a F-error of AF = —2.6 m instead of AF = —52.6 m as indicated in
the list of errors prepared by the Presidence. The following standard errors were
computed with the value AF = —2.6 m. Furthermore, test point No. 207 was
re-checked and it was found that a wrong point was measured. Therefore, this point
