PARAMETERS AND ACCURACY CRITERIA OF PLAN AND MAP COMPILATION
/Summary/.
According to the point IV.3 of the Resolution accepted
at the I.S.P. Congress at Lisbon, 1964, the working group IV-5
was formed for investigating the accuracy criteria of the photo-
grammetric method. It was recommended that a thorough informati-
on about present criteria in individual countries should prece-
de the investigation. The working group IV-5' was of the opinion
that the best way to obtain information about claims on accuracy
of medium and large scale maps and information about accuracy
of photogrammetrically compiled maps was a questionnaire search
with as many participants as possible. Therefore, the working
group IV-5 worked out a proposal of a questionnaire, which was
discussed and agreed at the symposium of the Commission IV held
in Prague, 1966.
The complex of questions of the questionnaire covers mo-
re than just the problem of criteria and parameters. Our inten-
tion was to obtain as much information as possible and to gain
detailed knowledge about exploting the photogrammetric method
as well as about the influence of the basic factors upon the way
of using and the accuracy degree of the photogrammetric method.
The working group IV-5 received 65 filled up questionnai-
res from 38 countries.
All the questionnaires are published in the Invited Paper
in full text because of their informational and documentary value
The summaries to individual chapters are a very rich sta-
tistical material about mutual relations of influences of various
factors and about the influence of specific conditions upon the
required map accuracy. They enable to appreciate the economical
as well as technical contribution of photogrammetry to mapping
and the possibility of its increasing by changing some parameters.
