points. An outstanding example is the approach used and highly
recommended by Dr. Santoni (1966) which involves spraying the
object with two coats of varnish, the second being slightly
darker than the initial one.
2.2.5.3.7. Emulsion Carrier
In high precision work, glass plates are preferrable
over film or film pack. Ultra flat fine grain glass plates
are highly recommended.
2.2.5.3.8. Photographic Emulsion
With reference to using small F stops that would require
faster photographic emulsion, and considering contrast require-
ments, spectroscopic ll-G or Tri-X Panchromatic emulsions have

EXPERIMENTAL WORK AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS
3.1. Introduction
Fully recognizing the potentialities of the stereometric
approach, the structural group of the Department of Civil
Engineering of the University of Illinois requested in 1964
the cooperation of the photogrammetric group with respect to
the use of metrical photography and the development of data
acquisition processes for strains and deflections measurement
of structural models under testing conditions.
