THE APPLICATION OF THE GYRO TO AERIAL PHOTOGRAMMETRY

ABSTRACT 
The submitted paper mentions the well known methods to determine the 
plumb line is the aerial photographs as well as the methods for the determina 
tion of other exterior elements of orientation. A new way is shown for the 
orientation of air photographs by means of a gyro pendulum. The physical 
correlation is derived which exists between the motion of the gyro axis and 
the bubble of a box level, connected with the gyro pendulum. Further it is 
shown that gyros with supporting adjustments, being very useful in aero navi 
gation, are inappropriate for reciprocal orientation of air photographs. The 
movements which practically occur are defined by numerical calculation.
