On the final testing of contours in air surveyed maps on large scale.
this Congress, i. e. considering the mean error of tracing. According to these
terms the maximum contour interval is given by
E, — 2,64 M [4]
As in this case the second inequality [1'] is always fulfilled, from the
first one can be obtained, introducing values [21 or [2], [31 and [4]:
2
l; < 2,64 1,20 +0,50 5 (for scale 1:2000) [5]
lj « 2,64 3,14 +0,90 5 (for scale 1:4000) [5']
72
Applying the sign of equality, the above expressions furnish the maxi-
mum values allowable for the divergencies /; (i. e. the relative limits of error),
referred to the medium distance L; between the considered contour line and the
two adiacent ones, in the surroundings of each single element of the contour
line itself.
The above mentioned limits of error have been calculated for exemplifica-
tion and were collected in the following tables regarding contour intervals cor4
responding to multiples of a thousandth of scale number.
