In troublesome successive work 6272 words out of the basic-books on pho-
togrammetry were selected so that we may now suppose that all mathematical,
physical and technical expressions required in photogrammetry are included.
(Gruber: Ferienkurs in Photogrammetrie, Schwidefsky: Grundrifi der Photo-
grammetrie, Dock: Aufnahmearbeiten in der terrestrischen Stereophotogramme-
trie, Rechnerische und Zeichnerische Auswertung terrestrischer stereophoto-
grammetrischer Aufnahmen, Baeschlin-Zeller: Traité de Photogrammétrie, Lac-
mann: Die Photogrammetrie in ihrer Anwendung auf nicht-topographische
Gebiete).
In this work the principle was decisive that the participating nations will
find it easier to cross out terms which are — after their opinions — not to be
taken up into the dictionary, instead of having to inquire if there might not lack
any term. Furthermore this collection of words — as we mean complete —
should offer a welcome basis to select those words, for which it seems desirable
to compose an international terminology. In the same way this collection of
words could serve as a basis to elaborate a list of standardised signs and nomi-
nations.
Each of these 6272 words was noted on ten sheets, so that in the whole
62.720 sheets were filled up. By this we got the first draft of the dictionary in
tenfold editions.
Each sheet was numbered in this way:
from No. 1—1000 . . . black
1001-2000 . . . red
2001—3000 . ... blue
3001—4000 . . . green
4001—5000 . . . brown
5001—6000 . . . violet
6001—6272 . . . orange
These sheets have been ordered alphabetically in German. Each sheet has
four horizontal lines. The first three lines have been marked by “Deutsch”,
“English” and “Français”. Annexed to the German word there are references to
the books wherein this or that word may be found. These references are mean-
