triangulation. This technique involves the use of
stereocomparator measures of photography taken with
a focal-plane reseau. The rigorous computations are
performed with electronic equipment and follow closely
the stereo-plotter technique of extension. Both relative
and absolute orientations are specified by orthogonal
matrices. The adjustments are nonrigorous and are of
a semi-graphic nature. Each phase of the technique
is illustrated with diagrams, photographs or maps. A
subsidiary display illustrates a method of air survey
of tidelines using infra-red air photography.
Activities and Products
In Great Britain there are a number of government
and privately owned organizations engaged in aerial
surveys. Their activities extend world-wide and cover
topographical, geological, and other types of surveys.
The titles of some of these organizations are displayed
on the national exhibit and some of them have their
own exhibits in the Exhibition.
