GENERAL ASSEMBLY - CLOSING SESSION
Thursday July 26th, 1956
Assemblée Générale — Séance de Clôture
The President of the ISP, Patrik Mogensen, declared the General Assembly
open and referred the Delegates to the Agenda of the Meeting.
§ 1. The Chairman of Commission I, J. Cruset, presented a draft resolution
prepared by the Commission, with the following five points:
1. Commission I recommends that the Washington Draft Standard on Test
Methods be amended to take into account the comments received before and
during the Congress. A revised draft should be submitted by the Commission
Board to the various National Societies for comment and published in Photo-
grammetria.
2. Commission I considers that closer cooperation between established camera
testing laboratories is desirable. Exchange of information on the techniques of
testing cameras and exchange of air cameras are recommended.
3. In order to ensure continuity of work between Congresses and to meet
Maj. General Brown’s suggestions, Commission I desires that the National
Reporters to the Commission be appointed as soon as possible, be individuals
whose attendance at the next Congress is probable and be experienced in the
work of the Commission, as defined by Resolution 2.
4. Commission I expresses the wish that for the future, the Time-Table be
so arranged as to allow the Members of the Congress to visit more thoroughly
the exhibition and to allow the exhibitors’ staffs to attend a part of the Congress
Sessions without increasing the exhibitors’ burdens.
5. Commission I expresses the wish that, because of good results obtained
so far, tests on registration of the horizon be extended to some other countries.
This Resolution was adopted without discussion.
§ 2. The Chairman of Commission II, W. K. Bachmann, presented a draft
resolution prepared by the Commission, with the following seven points:
1. On account of the great interest of Control Test No. 2 “Vercors” for the
establishment of topographic maps on the scale 1:50 000, Commission II
suggests
a) that those who have participated in the test publish all the results obtained
and describe the methods and processes used
b) that further tests be considered
c) that the control of each test be assumed by a single Commission
d) that variants should be considered in the controlled tests, to facilitate
study of important problems in the field of instruments.
2. The work of Commission II should be restricted to the study of the devices
and methods for restitution.
3. In view of the importance of the big calculating machines in geodesy and
photogrammetry, it is recommended that Commission II deal with such
questions in so far as they are connected with restitution devices and methods.
4. In view of the new solutions in plotting that may be contemplated in the
electronic and the purely numerical field, it is desirable that new research be
undertaken in this subject.
5. In view of the multitude of difficulties which the application of numerical
and mecano-optical methods to ground with great variations in heights will
