Introduction 
During the period 1952-1956 some international compa- 
rative tests in photogrammetry have been conducted by the 
International Society for Photogrammetry. Such tests are 
doubtless of great interest for the development of photo- 
grammetry and it seems very desirable that they be con- 
tinued. 
Up to now mainly the final results of the entire photo- 
grammetric procedure have been tested, For the judgement 
of such results, however, it seems very desirable that the 
fundamental operations of the normal photogrammetric pro- 
cedure also be individually tested. The Systematic and 
accidental errors of these operations are evidently the 
main sources of the errors of the final results. Therefore, 
the results of the tests of the fundamental operations 
Should give, among other things, important information about 
the quality that can be expected in the final results. Further, 
Such tests would indicate where, and to what extent, improve- 
ments of the photogrametric material or procedures are re- 
quired, 
l. The fundamental photogranmetric operations 
The normal photozrammetric procedure can be divided, 
from a geometrical point of view, into the following indi- 
vidual fundamental operations.
