GLASGOW UNIVERSITY Dept. of Geography
The department has produced photogrammetric elevations of parts of the
Caledonian Road church, Glasgow, and some similar projects have been
undertaken.

HUNTING SURVEYS LTD
Extensive use has been made of terrestrial photogrammetry for the plotting
of historic buildings, including Hampton Court Palace and the Houses of
Parliament, for restoration and archival purposes. Terrestrial photogrammetry
has also been applied to engineering and industrial problems including the
checking of a tunnel alignment and for the survey of dam sites and quarry faces
where precipitous terrain precluded the use of vertical photography.
Vertical photography has been used for the volumetric computation of
power station fuel stocks and quarry extraction Surveys, carried out annually
for auditing purposes.
Infra-red linescan has also been successfully employed at home and abroad
in the study of thermal pollution from power stations and to locate sources of
geothermal energy.
HYDROGRAPHIC DEPARTMENT Ministry of Defence (Navy)
A number of tidal stream and current surveys have been made. Current
vectors have been plotted automaticly, using a computer to process digitised
output from a Wild A8 plotter, and to control automatic drafting equipment.
Over a period of years, studies have also been made of changes of shore lines
and drying banks.
IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES
The use of photogrammetry for the design of Chemical plant continued, but
has now ceased. Photogrammetry has been used to study the behaviour of yacht
sails under different wind conditions. (72, 73)
LONDON UNIVERSITY. UNIVERSITY COLLEGE Dept. of
Photogrammetry and Surveying
Non-topographic photogrammetry has continued to be one of the
Department's chief concerns. Important developments have occurred in
architectural photogrammetry during the period and close links have been
established with the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments and the "
Ancient Monuments Branch of the Department of the Environment. The College
has been responsible for surveys at the Tower of London (1:96 scale) and
Fountain's Abbey (7) (1:50 scale) and control was provided for external surveys
at York Minister. There have also been close associations with Meridian
Airmaps Ltd. in the development of architectural photogrammetry as a
commercial undertaking, mainly on the European continent. Most of the work
at Petra (8), involving the survey of tomb facades, was of a similar nature.
