course with ten hours, devoted mainly to photo-interpretation. In addition, 
students of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor's general section course 
receive about six hours photogrammetric instruction during their first year. 
Equipment available includes a Kern PG2 plotter, five multiplex projectors, 
a sketchmaster, stereoscopes, slotted template outfit and so on.

Introductory lectures in photogrammetry are given to students of the B Sc. 
Hons. and B Sc. standard (London) courses in geography, and to students of the

In their second year, students taking the CNAA civil engineering degree 
receive a course on land surveying of which 7 lectures and 3 practicals are 
devotcd to elementary air survey. However in the long vacation between the 
second and third years, students receive a 3 weeks course on photogrammetry 
at the School of Military Survey of which 9 days are spent on practical exercises | 
with the splendid facilities and photogrammetric equipment available at the 
school.

Students taking the M Sc course in highway and traffic engineering and 
undergraduates taking the "highways'' option in B Sc civil engineering courses, 
receive instruction in the principles of photogrammetry and its applications, 
particularly in highway engineering.

A professional survey education, including photogrammetry, is given to | 
military officers, overseas students and probationers of the Directorate of | 
Overseas Surveys on the 12 months army survey course. Within the school, 
the air survey wing also trains military technicians and government survey 
officers both as operators and as senior technical supervisors requiring a 
high standard of knowledge in a comparatively narrow field. The school can 
provide special courses for government approved students, and has recently 
undertaken the training of government survey officers, including Ordnance 
Survey personnel for general survey supervisory duties in which photogrammetry | 
plays a large part.
