fense Forces has investigated various films, espe- 
cially color and false-color for several purposes, The mining 
company Rautaruukki Oy has continued the investi- 
gation of false-color interpretation for ore prospecting. A new 
method in this line is the use of an equidencity procedure, 
T ne: Forest Resgearch Institute has 
worked out a new type of multi-face sampling method to be app- 
lied to the inventory of forest resources, A quite new method 
is the use of meteorological space-craft pictures, The pictu- 
res applied were taken in early spring when the tree tops were 
already snowfree but the ground still covered by snow. It was 
found that a distinct correlation existed between the volume of 
growing stock measured by National Forest Inventory and the 
tone values measured on the satellite picture. 
University level education in Photogrammetry is offered 
at Helsinki and Tampere Univepyrs ie 
ties of Technology and in addition educa- 
tion in photo interpretation is included in the program 
of the Universities of Helsinki, 
Turku and. Oulu. 
The most complete education in the field is given at the Depart- 
ment of Surveying of Helsinki University of Technology including 
lectures and practice during the second, third and fourth year 
of studies, Yearly there have been 30-50 students taking part 
in the courses, 
At the Civil Engineering departments of both Helsinki and Tam- 
pere Universities of Technology there are lectures and practice 
during the third year, There is a Faculty of Engineering at 
the University of Oulu which gives the students of civil engi- 
neering the same education. 
There are minor courses of photogrammetry in the Faculty of Ag- 
riculture and Forestry of Helsinki University, in the Insti- 
tutes of Geology of Helsinki, Turku and Oulu Universities as 
well as in the Institutes of Geography of the same three Univer- 
sities.
