cartographic uses of Skylab photography was also carried out for NASA and a
contoured topographic map was produced of an area in Nepal (105, 107). Research
and development in the computer field related to aero triangulation has resulted
in a block adjustment programme to accommodate 4500 models and with modifica-
tion to eliminate virtually all restrictions as to camera attitudes, flight pattern
and control disposition. The company is engaged in a major development in
online digital mapping and automated draughting.
ILFORD LIMITED
With the discontinuance of its range of glass plates and the withdrawal of its
aerial film products, the company's remaining interest in photogrammetry will
in future be through its newly developed range of polythene laminated base bromide
papers which were introduced in 1974 as part of the new Ilfospeed system.
INSTITUTE OF OCEANOGRAPHIC SCIENCES
A photogrammetric system has been d eveloped employing the Hasselblad 500
camera with corrector for underwater photogrammetry to measure seabed
micro-relief.
KODAK LIMITED
Kodak Limited continues to market a range of photographic films, papers,
chemicals and processing apparatus for use in the survey and photogrammetric
fields.
UNIVERSITY OF LONDON:
IMPERIAL COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, Department of
Civil Engineering
A system for adjusting simultaneously land survey data and photogrammetric
observations was developed and optimum field control for photogrammetric blocks
was investigated. A technique for counting pedestrians by time lapse photography
from a moving vehicle depends on a camera pointed towards the zenith recording
the image in a convex mirror mounted above it. A program has been developed
for determining ground measurements from the photographs.
UNIVERSITY OF LONDON:
UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON, Department of Anatomy & Embryology
The Department uses photogrammetry in scanning electron microscopy of
surfaces of microscopic biological objects (19-23, 81, 82), and has collaborated
with Cartographic Engineering Ltd in the design of instruments for stereoplotting
from pairs of scanning electron micrographs (24, 25). The geometrical problem
has been simplified by ensuring that both members of the pair are recorded at
the same magnification and at a standard tilt angle difference.
