long movable jip. Other instrumentation for the supervision
of meteorological parameters and data registration completes
the equipment. Tests of about the same type are going on in
the US and Sweden. Further, Sievers (61) has studied spectral
reflectance by means of b/w photographs.
Recommendations

When the scope of the seven ISP Commissions was modified in
1972, the place of the Remote Sensing had been thoroughly dis-
cussed. However, the solution as presented at the Ottawa Con-
gress can hardly be considered as ideal. In 1976, Remote Sens-
ing is still an urgent problem that will be discussed in the
General Assembly meeting at Helsinki. Pending an investigation
and a final decision in 1980, a common working group between
Commissions I and VII is proposed for Remote Sensing activities.
Retention of the Commission I working groups for accomplish-
ment of the present work on Image Geometry and Image Quality
is recommended. Further, a working group on Photography and
Sensitometry is proposed. Finally, it is anticipated that the
Resolutions to be adopted in Helsinki will emphasize the most
important and urgent problems within the scope of Commission I.
Acknowledgements

I wish to express my sincere thanks to the ISP Secretariate,
to the Commission I Board, to the Chairmen of the Working Groups,
to the National Reporters, and to the Authors of invited and
presented papers for their help, advice and contributions. It is
my hope that this invaluable assistance will create a stable ba-
yp
sis for the future progress of the Commission I activities.
