able from the working group chairman at a later date by writing to the address given on
the front page.
The two cameras used were a rather fortunate choice in that the two lenses
display significant differences. The lens distortion values obtained from one photo-
graphic laboratory calibration are shown in the following two figures.

There are also marked differences in the image quality characteristics. The
camera, for which the lens distortion is given in the left figure, produces an image of
somewhat higher contrast for the central part of the image which results in a higher
pointing accuracy. At the same time, however, this camera produces rather poor images
in the corners which result in a marked increase of pointing errors. Although a
thorough analysis has not yet been carried out, it can be stated that the image quality
differences can also be recognized by analysis of modulation and phase transfer function
values determined for the two cameras.
The following gentlemen also contributed towards the project: G. Bormann,
H. Brown, P.D. Carman, K.H. Ellenbeck, L.W. Fritz, E.L. Gliatti, J. Hakkarainen,
R.H. Howell, G. Kupfer, W. Lorch, W.C. Martin, H.K. Meier, K.J. Rosenbruch, H. Salmen-
perd, C.C. Slama, J.A. Strahle, W.P. Tayman and J.A. Voggenthaler. Their contributions
are thankfully acknowledged. In addition, unnamed technical support personnel contri-
buted valuable time. The project relied entirely upon financial support by all partici-
pants. The contributions of the Swedish Society for Photogrammetry and the Canadian
Armed Forces towards camera transportation are thankfully acknowledged. Finally, the
substantial Finnish contributions towards the project would not have come about without
the enthusiastic support of the project by the late Prof. R.S. Halonen.
