It goes without saying that the great flexibility of Analytical Plotters makes shooting
and plotting operations more independent; in fact, exposure has no longer to be
planned (as far as the suitableness of camera, holder and exposure distance is con-
cerned) to suit a given analogical plotting instrument.
Following this important consideration we might contemplate the possibility of sto-
ring photograms (i.e. picture operations only, including topographical data required
to establish orientation parameters), without necessarily plotting them out.
This is a very important topic to start solving the problem of inventoring artistic pa-
trimonies of the different countries, avoiding interdependence between exposure and
restitution operations. Under certain conditions, this could be an unsolvable problem:
Analytical Plotters might overcome such difficulty.
To end up let's point out that it would be of great interest to get simplified instru-
ments available in a near future; such instruments should be meant for Architectural
photogrammetry only and consequently be smaller and cheaper.
As a matter of fact we realize that sophisticated instruments such as Analytical Plot-
ters would appear rather redundant and undoubtedly too expensive if systematically
used in Architectural photogrammetry. However, the reasons which make those in-
struments worth to be used also in this field of activity have been stated beforehand.
There is no doubt that simplified instruments (mainly as far as processing unit and
coordinatograph are concerned) can turn out competitive for those types of perfor-
mances that cannot be obtained using traditional instruments.
