In addition some electro-optical tacheometers e.g. AGA Geodime-
ter 710 has facilities for automatic recording of data. There
is also an interface available between AGA Geodimeter 710 and
the calculator Hewlett-Packard mod 9820. The filed data can
thus be stored directly in the calculator and by an on-line
plotter the position of the measured points can be checked e.g.
against the theoretical position of a cross-section in the same
way as was described above.
There is no doubt that terrestrial surveying technique with
electro-optical tacheometers not only complete photogrammetr ic
surveying systems but gradually decreases its importance in
many applications.
5. FURTHER DEVELOPMENT
For the nearest future the development within photogrammetry
will be concentrated to a great extent upon digitizing of ste-
reo models for various purposes. On-line facilities for imme-
diate processing of model coordinates will be introduced.
A great interest is taken in semi-automated systems for map
production. All major hard ware as stereo plotters, computer
and automatic plotter is available and investigations are be-
ing made concerning operating methods. The investigation is
carried out by the Division for Photogrammetry at the Royal
Institute of Technology in cooperation with the Road Administ-
ration.
In the field of terrestrial surveying the further development of
systems for automated or semi-automated filed data collection
and processing will make the data flow faster and safer. Special
attention will be paid to the use of calculators. The experience
has shown that the very existence of "computational power" more
or less directly in the field, improves the way of organizing
the field work and makes it more flexible.
