FINAL REPORT 
ABSTRACT 
Most of the large developing countries of the world 
are placed within the tropical band of the Earth, 
Natural resources in most of these countries are 
still in a guess stage and need to be urgently surveyed and unven- 
toried for obvious reasons. 
Conventional aerophotograph acquisition and interpre 
tation is not feasible in many instances due to atmospheric condi- 
tions, dense coverage of tropical rain forest and other phenomena, 
Other remote sensors than the photographic cameras 
are prouving their aplicability in such areas and seem to be the 
answer to the urgent problem of identification and inventory of 
their natural resources. 
Working Group nr. 4 of Commission VII will briefly - 
report the effort endeavoured by the natives of these areas aiming 
to develop specific keys for the interpretation of the tremendous - 
amount of data presently available to the experts and challenging - 
their sagacity.
