July,24. The Earth Resources Technology Satellite - ERTS 1 for 
Earth resource investigations is launched, in the United Sta- 
vos. It has two registering systems: RBV (Return Beam Vidicon) 
and MSS (Multispectral Scanner). The satellite moves on a near 
polar orbit, at a 915 km height above the Earth, coming back, 
in the same place, every 18 days.
