One dimensional spatial relationship 
A better method to gain textural features out of the image data 
is the evaluation of the grey level distribution along lines or 
rows traversing the evaluation unit (see Fig. 3 a,b). The grey 
level distribution along a line through the forest region differs 
extremely in amplitude and periodicity from the distribution along 
the line through the housing area. Here the extraction of textural 
patterns can be performed e.g. by counting the number of local ma- 
xima of sufficient height including the valuation of typical mean
