APPLICATION OF BALLOON PHOTOGRAPHS TO THREE
DIMENSIONAL MEASUREMENT
DANS
Fig. 5 is a stereo pair which was taken from
a kite balloon of altitude of 800 meters. In this
island 8 control points were established.
The results of interior orientation parameters
shown in Table 2 were adopted to the orientation
and three dimensional measurement.
Table 4 shows the accuracy of exterior
orientation, and the accuracy of three dimensional
measurement for control points. Those resluts
show that three dimensional measurement can be
done in permittable accuracy by a kite balloon-
non metric camera system.

FUTURE PLAN IN A KITE BALLOON SYSTEM
To solve the disadvantage on a kite balloon
camera system that whether an appropriate scene
can be taken or not, is not made sure in advance,
a TV camera connected with fiber cable to TV
monitor and video recorder on the ground is now
under development by the authors. (see Fig. 6)
The TV camera will be rotated and titled by
a command through the fiber cable.
Only when an appropriate scene can be seen in
the monitor, a film will be photographed by radio
control shutter or fiber cable signal.

CONCLUSION
A kite balloon borne camera system is useful
for small area's photogrammetry and remote sensing.
The biggest advantage of the system is the
possibility of easy operation by any amateur.
In future, a TV camera and/or an infrared
eye camera will be able to be installed with
fiber cable communication system, which will
extend the remote sensing capabilities.
