During the past year the activities of WG 
II/1 concentrated on organizing the 
working group, planning the activities for 
the four year period, informing potential 
members about these activities, and 
helping plan the Commission II 
Symposium in Ottawa in 1994. A

year ago there were only a few places that 
actively pursued real-time mapping. It 
was mostly done by researchers at the 
Ohio State University and at Stuttgart 
University. However, these original
