Measurability and Interpretability of Image Detail
ng Three specific areas of traditional interest to photogrammetrists
are being investigated: 1) variances in x and y coordinate measure-
| ments performed with photogrammetric equipment; 2) systematic errors
associated with pointing to image detail; and 3) the influence of image
quality on the interpretability of detail. It is hoped that relation-
ships between these tasks and factors such as MTF, film granularity,
constrast, image scale and optical viewing magnification can be
developed to provide a quantitative basis for comparisons of systems
een utilized for photogrammetric applications. If satisfactory relation-
(e ships between image quality parameters and the measurability and inter-
pretability of detail can be established, a concentrated effort will be
required to educate photogrammetrists on how to incorporate this
zd information into their operations.
