3.1. RESULTS PROVIDED BY WORKING GROUP MEMBERS
Table 1 lists, in chronological order of calibration data
acquisition, calibrated focal lengths and coordinates of both, the
principal point of autocollimation and the point of best symmetry,
determined by those working group members who have thus far completed
their contributions and submitted these to Photogrammetia for
publication. In their order of forthcoming publication, the submitted
papers are Ziemann [8] (giving results based on data provided by
Bormann and Meier), Hakkarainen [9], Carman and Brown [10], Ziemann
[11],:Taymen [12], Fritz and Slama [13], and Strahle [14].
Figure 8 shows the distribution of points used in the different
calibrations. These distributions are radially oriented with the
exceptions of F and G which are results from stellar calibrations.
Of the radially oriented calibration point distributions, only D
provides a reasonably uniform coverage of the format corner areas at
the expense of an abundantly large number of points near the format
center. Distribution E does not provide the same point density and,
in addition, lacks coverage in the format corners and in the vicinity
of the format side mid-points. Distributions A, B and C respectively
