Finally, the outlook on sensor orientation has indicated
that orientation data will be most essential for the geome-
tric performance and hence for the photogrammetric appli-
cation of scanners, linear array cameras and laser profilers.
Airborne orientation data may promote a break through of
such modern sensors sooner than anticipated.
The conclusion must be that photogrammetry must prepare it-
self for such developments and study the problems and the
methods to be applied. There is no doubt that a major change
in photogrammetric working methods is due, concerning the
orientation of photographs and of other sensors. The develop-
ment is of great importance as it will make photogrammetry
more economic and more versatile than ever before.
