6. RESULTS, EASY TO ANALYSE
The results as produced with MSCAN, are presented in PSCAN. PSCAN allows for
a presentation of the results in three ways:
- the results appear on the line printer (printfile name.res) or on the screen;
- the precision and reliability graphics appear on the screen;
- a network drawing with standard ellipses and criterion circles appears on the
plotter (plotfile named name.pit).
The precision and reliability graphics visible on the screen make it very easy to
analyse the quality of the network. Rejected and/or unreliable observations
appear graphically on the screen. This feature was specially designed for the
online analysis of the quality of the network. In this way one avoids the
examination of the printfile. This printfile can be regarded as a report on the
quality of the network. It also includes the adjusted coordinates. Enclosure 1
shows the results of a least squares phase Il adjustment. The plotfile visualizes the
results producing a color-drawing of the network in format A3/AA4.
When the adjustment results have been accepted module TSCAN calculates the
coordinates of the topographical points, if any.
7. EXPERIENCES WITH GEOSCAN
GEOSCAN is PC-DOS/MS-DOS compatible. The program is written in Fortran 77
and Gwbasic. GEOSCAN runs very fast. A free network least squares adjustment,
which includes three automatic iterations, 107 observations and 86 unknown
elements (enclosure 1) only takes 53 seconds (time measured at Tulip Computers
System PC Extend).
The program can also be of interest for projects outside the geodetic discipline.
Dahlmans (ref. 3) used the program for the analysis of deformation networks.
Release 1.0 is now available in a Dutch and English version. Other languages are
foreseen.
