There is one more the remark to be made: the expert-system
approach has brought the concept of symbolic manipulations in
our focus. Whether or not a way of thinking in terms of
symbols and their manipulation in more general terms has
something to offer for photogrammetry remains to be studied.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The research reported in this paper was carried out during my
stay at Purdue University and the National Research Council
of Canada. I wish to thank people in these organizations for
the support.
