The technical-scientific program of the Symposium will cer-
tainly be interesting, but tiring. Therefore we have planned
some social events for relaxing, and, thus, recharging our
receiving capacity. In this connection I want to express my
happiness that there are over 20 registered accompanying
persons. In addition to the general social program, we have
prepared for them a program of their own.
This Symposium is dedicated to the memory of Dr.h.c. K.G. LOf-
strom who passed away in 1984. Dr. Lôfstrôm was a pioneer in
photogrammetry in Finland and participated also actively in
the international affairs of photogrammetry. Dr. LOófstróm
was Honorary Member of the Finnish Society of Photogrammetry
as well as of the ISPRS. After this Opening Session the first
Memorial Lecture will be given by Prof. Dr. F. Ackermann.

enjoying your visit to the City of Rovaniemi end that the
Lapponian circumstances will help create a good atmosphere
for meeting your old friends and for finding new ones.
