3... PROSPECTS
Considering the completed Topographic and Cadastral works for
Pro civil purposes in which large and medium scales were used we should
(. note that they were not worked out on a general plan in the past
1 with the purpose of the surveying the country, but just to cover the
special demands of construction of different projects and which na-
THE turally depended quite a lot on the available funds necessary in
(. carrying out these various projects. The situation unfortunately
2 still continues, without any prospects, for the present, of any change
3 in the near future. With regards to the relative works for
military purposes in which small scales such as 1 : 400 oo0, 1 : 200 ooo
and 1: 100 000 were used, they were made by the Army Geographic
4 Service under a general programme for mapping the whole country.
5 This Service is now working systematically for the compilation or
completion of the aerotopographic maps in a smaller scalle 1 : 50 ooo.
6 Nevertheless, according to the opinion of those who are directing
the competent services, there is a need of executing a number of
7 revelant works within a general future programme, that will in-
clude the completion of a map from the begining in a scale of
8 1 : 25 000 (according to the opinion of the Army) or 1: 20 000 (accor-
ding to the opinion of the civil Services) and the compiling of the
9 Cadastral map of the country in a scale of at least 1:5000 for the
open country and 1 : 2000 for the populated areas always, with the
10 assistance of aerial phototopography. For the latter purpose it is
easy to percieve the lack, in the present organization of the govern-
ment Services, which are not enou gh, and schould not only be streng-
T thened, but also private offices or better still Economotechnical Orga-
m nization for Cadaster should be organized. It is not yet known when
the application of such a programme will be started. Because at
present all Services are involved in accomplishing restricted time
PHO programs depending on the requirements presented each above sta-
| 4 ted time, which in any case seems that it will not be long before
| such an onset will, as we hope, take place.
