To date, no extensive use has been made of the former method on small seale map-
ping in this country whilst the efficiency of the tellurometor and similar measuring devices
has not yet been completely exploited as a means of obtaining minor mapping control, Until
this data is obtained a logical solution to this problem is not possible,
It would seem that aerial photography assembled by slotted tenplate and detail
plotted by simple graphical means in the past have satisfied the required standards for
small scale mapping. This method, used in conjunction with photography at a scale of
1:100,000, may well be a satisfactory solution to this problem in the future,
Whatever the method that is to be finally adopted a study of the map coverage of
the continent will show that there is still an immense task facing the mapping agencies of
Australia,
