Figure 3 - Cakes broken of the fast ice edge by swell. The angular shape 
of the cakes is convincing that the ice was very “steely” at the time. (Off 
Bengtskar Lighthouse in the Northern Baltic. 1942, 29th March, 0903

Figure 4 - A field of hummocked ice. The pressure ridges in the centre of the photo form 
a sort of fairly regular network. The two main directions in which they radiate are right 
angles. Thus the level “plots” left between the pressure formations are also regular.
