With an ortho-soft developed by IGN FRANCE,the product MATRA PICTRAL 1000 
is devoted to orthophoto production in a friendly way,using the performan- 
ces of PICTRALFAST array processor.Till now, the orthophoto production was 
the result of a heavy analogical process,using dedicated equipment, highly 
dependant to the quality of the original data and of the skillfullness of 
operators. 
The need for digital orthophotoproduction is supported by : 
- new images sources, directly available in digital form (e.g. SPOT data). 
- performances available on digital processors, yielding efficient comput- 
ing times.
