d) Calibration and diagnostics of the S9-AP
In addition to standard data capture for mapping purposes, special modules
for data capture for digital terrain models (single points, arbitrary
lines, profiles, grids, longitudinal axis and cross-sections, progressive
sampling), aerial triangulation (stereo-comparator, model or point-transfer
mode) and for non-topographic applications are available.
THE GEODETIC PREPROCESSOR
To support the full flexibility of the SYSTEM 9 data structures a complet-
ely integrated package for the processing of field-survey data is avail-
able. The use of data recorders in the field allows a direct coding of the
information, not only for the processing, but also for the structuring of
data. Primitives and features, including attribute information, can be
defined in the field or with the full-screen editor before adjustment.
This reduces the need to do all these definition on the graphics screen.
After adjustment a graphic checkplot is immediately available on the
screen. The geodetic preprocessor consists of the following main modules:
a) Data transfer from data recorders to the S9 workstation processor:
- supports the Wild data recorders GLE1, GRE2 and GRE3 as well as
recorders from Kern and AGA
- stores measurements in RAW data files
- Supports range checking for measurement and code information
b) Data editing and manual input from field books:
- flexible input format, as in the field book
- easy combination of data from different sources and formats using
page manipulation
- full-screen editor to add, delete or modify data with bulk-editor
option and range checking
- recovery of raw data or previous versions
c) Preprocessing:
- check code logic and completeness of measurments
- apply corrections (meteorological, station reduction, etc)
d) Network adjustment or simulation:
- least-squares adjustment for horizontal and vertical networks
- full error analysis (precision and reliability)
- graphic presentation of network geometry and error analysis
e) Traverse adjustment:
- Adjustment of open, closed and junction traverses
- free station (resection)
- various algorithms (least squares, Bowditch, etc)
