This approach — and aerial triangulation with Independent Models in general
- depends strongly on the quality of the individual relative orientations.
Therefore it is less suitable, for example, for areas with incomplete
models and for other situations in which the Bundle Method is clearly supe-
rior.
Experience:
During the authors presence at MARKHURD Corp. the package MTODSR was tested
and used on a very limited number of models. This is because the data col-
lection program available recorded the measured points in the system of the
first model of each strip. Model set up with the above procedure was there-
fore only possible for the first model of each strip.
No problems were detected in these set ups, but too few models were in-
volved in order to obtain an estimate of the potential time gain. The
introduction of the procedure in regular production was postponed until the
arrival of the new data collection program mentioned above.
Program Package TODSR
This package makes the output of PAT-M or PAT-B usefull to the DSR.
It was developed to allow the use of the Bundle Method and to overcome the
restrictions with respect to the corrections for earth curvature and atmos-
pheric refraction. The aim was to produce new "relative orientation files"
from the ones produced in the DSR during aerotriangulation using:
— the measured photo coordinates,
the adjusted terrain coordinates and
-— the known parameters of the exterior orientation of the photographs.
À command procedure carries out the following steps:
1.) It runs a preparation program to:
1.1.) Interactively input or change of the data stored in the "basic
data file", namely:
the adjustment program used (PAT-M or PAT-B),
type of listing of the adjusted terrain coordinates,
— parameters for the exterior orientation from a separate file or from the
listing file (only if PAT-B is used),
— project identifier used at the DSR,
- name of the listing file of the adjustment program,
weights (planimetry and height) for each point category.
1.2.) Preparation of command files for steps 2.) and 4.)
2.) A directory of "relative orientation files" belonging to the specified
project is produced and presented for checking.
3.) The program TODSR is batch queued. It is structured similarly to the
program MTODSR namely :
3.1.) The adjusted terrain coordinates are read from the listing file of
PAT-M or PAT-B and a "ground file" for the DSR is produced. Weights
are assigned according to the point code.
