(Oderbruch, Polder bei Schwedt) were significantly smaller, so
that in these map sheets only three data sets were included. Most
of the flooded areas were extracted from SAR data sets. Table 3
gives an overview about the data sets included for the map sheets.
As mentioned above, for improveming the discrimination
possibilities of the radar data sets statistical features and relations
in the local neigborhood such as local variance, skewness and co-
occurence features were included in the image processing and
classification. Due to the statistical differences between certain
scenes this processing was done separately for each data set. After
smoothing of the classification results and eliminating water areas
outside the river plain (which was not connected with the flood
event) the extracted areas were converted into vector layers and
linked with different presentation properties.
