particular expenses and öften one time data gain for mostly non-applicable and
only research purposes this approach leads to multiple and repetitive data gain
immediately applicable in decision making for environmental protection and life
improvement of the local population,
9, Conclusions
With low cost.and simple self constructed equipment, consisting of a multi-band
radiometer, commercial camera with mounting accessories, pocket or desk computer
and a periodic evaluation of machine processed satellite images and ground truth
flights a long termed repetitive monitoring of the environment in tropical zones
will be possible.
In combination with extended terrestrial reflectance and climatological measure-
ments over the whole year base datas can be gained for the ecology of a re-
spective region. As the monitored area is inaccessible the sample datas should
be coliected in an accessible area with similar environment as far as ground
truth datas are concerned.
Finally the exspected data gain will be larger than by a one time high accurate
observation with sophisticated equipment mounted on a high altitude flying air-
craft, always susceptible to troubles and brake downs in the tropics.
