CONCLUSIONS 
Although, the development of pattern recognition and automatic 
image interpretation is of the greatest importance, visual image interpretation 
remains a valuable and final step in image interpretation. Neglecting the trai- 
ning of the interpreters in this field will surely widen the "gap" between remo- 
te sensing "specialists" and "users" and do not use the powerful abilities of 
our visual perception and mind. Traditional techniques of aerial photo-interpre- 
tation deserve a re-evaluation, and if well adapted to the new possibilities in 
remote sensing, will still play an important role in image interpretation.
