Kurzfassung 
Aufgrund einer martensitischen Umwandlung ändern Formgedächtnislegierungen in 
Abhängigkeit von der Temperatur ihre Gestalt. 
Viele Anwendungsmöglichkeiten sind gegeben, wobei erstmals großserienmäßig 
eine NiTi-Druckfeder im Automatik-Getriebe eingesetzt wird. 
Um die Umwandlung und ihre Reversibilitdt zu beurteilen, sind technische Prii- 
fungen notwendig. 
Die metallographische Präparation wird erläutert, und die Gefüge vor und nach 
der Umwandlung werden aufgezeigt. 
Abstract 
The Transformation and the Test of Shape Memory Alloys 
Shape memory alloys show a temperature-dependent shape change based on a mar- 
tensitic transformation. 
Many applications are possible. The first is the use of a NiTi pressure spring 
in automatic transmissions. 
Technical tests are necessary to value transformation and its reversibility. 
The metallographic preparation procedure is explained and the structures be- 
fore and after transformation presented.
