242 INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF EDUCATION.
THE CHAIRMAN : That is what they attempted in the French Exposition ; but 1
fancy if we attempted it here we should never get back to our schools. Of course we
must assume that English is a constant language in all these courses. The question is
aot between Latin and English ; it is between Latin and one of the common modern
anguages. I think the hour has arrived for the adjournment of this congress, and I
desire to extend, in behalf of Mr. Huling and myself, our very cordial thanks to the
members of the congress who have codperated with us in making the work so suggestive
and profitable.
