Abstract - This paper describes the Analytical Photogrammetrie Positioning 
System (APPS) which is a concept for the application of photogrammetric 
principles to.,the general problem of locating the position of objects on the 
terrain.,, This paper is consistent with the topic of the symposium of 
"The role of digital components in photogrammetric instrumentation 
The primary attributes of the system are relative low cost and simplicity, 
reliability and ease of operation. The paper describes the primary components 
of the system, illustrates the operation and provides the results of extensive 
tests. The paper concludes with a description of investigations on addi 
tional applications off the concepts and techniques of APPS.
