While the CRT-terminal offers many advantages over the panel, 
there are some functions of the panel which cannot be replaced. 
The optimum will therefore be a panel for the control function 
with a CRT terminal or a typewriter for the input-output function. 
Applications Software 
While the. present analytical plotter with or without the mentioned 
possible programming improvements is a very versatile tool it is of 
essence to justify it economically while the cost is still higher than 
that of a standard plotter. 
A.! P resent uses o f the Analytical Plotter 
1. There is no difficulty to justify the use for a military 
application, since there is no other plotter which can be used 
for a similar purpose such as the evaluation of panoramic photo 
graphy or the plotting of radar and space imagery. 
2. Also the use of an analytical plotter in conjunction with an 
electronic image correlator, which may be required for very 
fast orthophotoproduction and DTM Scanning as military 
requirements has proven to be very useful. 
3. In civilian applications there are certain advantages which make 
the analytical plotter a unique tool, such as the plotting 
possibility of photos with unusual principal distances and 
formats (c = 60 cm 23 x 23; c « 6 cm 6x6; etc,). 
A. For standard operations of plotting and aerial triangulation the 
analytical plotter can do about the same as an ordinary plotter or 
as a stereocomparator with its present software in speed or as a 
stereocomparator in accuracy. 
5. It can of course be used for special auxiliary jobs* such as the 
preparation of map manuscripts.
