The flight direction here was nearly parallel to the sun incident plane, with the antispecular
direction (i.e. scattering angle 180°, or zero phase angle) near the top of the picture, and this
highly polarized feature corresponds to viewing directions (0 v ,<t>v) such that the scattering
angle 0 is near from 140° (i.e. cos © = cos0 s cos8 v + sin0 s sin0 v cos4> v ). This rainbow signature
was a permanent characteristic of these low, very probably liquid water clouds.
In other viewing directions, the polarized reflectance remained rather low.
