XVIII. Halogensubstitutionsprodukte.
Styrol, C 6 H B .CH:CH 2 , findet sich im Steinkohlenteer, wahrschein
lich als Abbauprodukt gewisser Säuren, im Storax (Styrax officinalis)
und im Safte der Einde yon Liquidambar orientale, neben anderen
Verbindungen. Entsteht aus der Zimtsäure (s. Kap. XXV, A, 2) durch
Erhitzen (z. B. B. 23, 3269):
C 6 H B .CH:CH.C0 2 H = C 6 II 8 .OH:CH 2 -f C0 2 .
Styrol ist eine dem Benzol ähnliche Flüssigkeit von angenehmem Geruoh.
S.-P. 144-°. Verwandelt sich beim Auf bewahren in das polymere Metastyrol,
eine amorphe, durchsichtige Masse (A. 371, 259). Geht durch Eeduktion
mittels Natrium und Alkohol in Athylbenzol über. Die Addition von
Bromwasserstoff führt zu «-Bromäthylbenzol, C 6 H B . CH Br. CH 3 .
Phenylacetylen, C 6 H B .C:CH, entsteht z. B. aus Phenylpropiol-
säure (s. Kap. XXV, A, 2) durch Abspaltung von Kohlensäure: .
C 6 H B .C;C.C0 2 H = C 6 H B . 0 • C H -f C0 2 .
Angenehm riechende, bei 142° siedende Flüssigkeit. Liefert als Ab
kömmling des Acetylens mit ammoniakalischer Silber- oder Kupfer
oxydullösung explosive Metallverbindungen. Wird durch Lösen in
Schwefelsäure und Verdünnen mit Wasser unter Wasseraufnahme in
Acetophenon, C 6 H B . C 0.0 H 3 , übergeführt.
