analysis, Spatial management system can finish spatial entities’ data input, storing,
manipulating, retrieving and analyzing operations in the form of maps.
(2) Develop remote sensing images interpretation models, to interpret the status on
vegetation, landuse, natural resource development, etc., as well as their dynamic tendencies in
Hainan coastal area; research on the possibility of building dynamic monitoring & assessment
system by using remote sensing images on mangrove and fishery resource in the coastal &
marine area in Hainan island.
(3) Research on the integration of remote sensing images and GIS thematic maps, develop
models and software on improving precision and effects of images interpretation with
reference of GIS thematic maps, as well as using remote sensing data to automatically update
spatial database.
(4) Research on methods of generating thematic maps with statistic & monitoring attribute
data by GIS tools (e g., based on the Administrative Map of Hainan island and social &
economic database file, to automatically generate thematic maps; adopting GIS spatial
expansing method, to interpolate pointed environmental monitoring data to the whole spatial
area).
(5)Research and develop practical application models (e g., by overlaying GIS thematic
maps and with the aid of expert tools, to make research on resource & environment zoning,
coastal & marine areas bio-sensitivity and ecological cache analysis, coastal area eco-
environment comprehensive assessment, etc ).
