Working Group 8: Geo-information systems
JJ.Nossin
Chairman
The participants in the special Working Group ses
sions on Geo-Information Systems (GIS) of the Com
mission VII symposium,
taking note of the rapid advancement in the devel
opment and applications of Geo-Information Systems,
express their opinion that major attention should
be focussed on GIS at the next ISPRS Congress,
Kyoto, 1988,
and that the formation of a Working Group on GIS
under the mandate of Commission VII should be given
serious consideration.
This working group should have included in its
task description not only to monitor and contribute
to technical progress and applications of GIS, but
also to analyze and identify the users and their
requirements.
The proper forwarding of this expression of
opinion is left in the hands of the Committee of
Commission VII of the ISPRS.
