Stereomicroscope RK 820
The stereomicroscope RK 820 enables the universal mono- and
stereoscopic image evaluation of any kind of variable picture
carriers. The viewing optics is equipped with standard elements
for independent zooming, image rotation, and superimposition
of pictures. The modular construction of the RK 820 enables the
exchange of different supplementary lenses and eyepieces which
is very favourable to the image evaluation in every case. Thus
the evaluator can detect, identify, and interpret even the smal
lest details by optimal magnification of the corresponding ob
ject. This factor not only distinguishes the device within the in
terpretation of aerial photos but also in the case of interpretation
of satellite images and the preliminary steps for further image
processing methods, excellent results have been achieved, too.
Furthermore, the use of the RK 820 led to concerted work and
time saving. The movable zoom arms permit the "separation" of
conventional 70 mm, 5” and 9" images without cutting the film
strip.
As mentioned at the beginning, the RK 820 by Kern facilitates an
image rotation by 360° which first of all is useful when viewing
uncut filmstrips. Secondly, the stereo basis can be balanced since
it is not always parallel to the photo line of flight. And thirdly the
spatial observation effect can be increased by arranging room
and body shadows in the image towards the evaluator. This
favours and improves both the stereo effect and the spatial
image representation.
