programs for computing accuracy matrix Qxx
and reliability matrix QwP are developed
respectively in~WuCAPS G /» 5 software package.
The all, or part, or only dialog elements of the
Qxx and QwP can be calculated for different
purpose. Finally, the theoretical standard
deviation of the each unknown parameter and
the redundancy numbers for each observation
are given.
□ Estimation of posterior variance components
It is possible to introduce simultaneously 13
kinds of observations into the WuCAPS G/ >s for
integral adjustment. The priori weights of all
used observations must be specified before
combined bundle adjustment. However, it is
difficult for operator to define a reasonable
weight for each type of observation. According
to the residuals of the observations after
adjustment, the weights can be adjusted to the
optimal values by the program of estimating the
posterior variance components.
□ Drawing of the distribution chart and the
residual sketch of ground control points
The goal of the program is to display directly the
location of the photogrammetric points in
geodetic coordinate system and the residuals of
the ground control points on the terminal. Of
course, these charts can be plotted out on a
selected printer or plotter.
□ Mosaic of adjustment blocks
A large project may be divided into several
calculation units. The coordinates of the same
points among adjacent blocks must be equal
after adjustment in whole project. The goal of
this program is to find those homologous points
and to solve the arithmetic average of their
coordinates. At the same time, it checks whether
the adjusted results meet the specification or not.
4. EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS
Our first test obtained the exciting results from an actual
GPS-controlled photo flight over the Taiyuan test field in
May, 1994 [Li and Yuan, 1995]. Based on this
operational experience, the technique of airborne GPS
survey, arrange of the ground control points and data
processing of combined bundle adjustment are refined.
Up to now, we have made fifteen successful experiments
and production in China. In the present section, these
experiments will be discussed.
Figure 3 shows the distribution of these test sites in China.
The main technical data of the GPS-supported photo
flights are listed Table 1.
