Mtm mi, n oclo TELEDETECTION MICRO-ONDES : PRINCIPALES CONCLUSIONS DU COLLOQUE INTERNATIONAL "SIGNATURES SPECTRALES D'OBJETS EN TELEDETECTION" MICROWAVE REMOTE SENSING : MAIN CONCLUSIONS OF THE INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM ON "SPECTRAL SIGNATURE OF OBJECTS IN REMOTE SENSING" par Thuy LE TOAN Centre d'Etude Spatiale des Rayonnements CNRS - Université Paul Sabatier - Toulouse France RESUME Quelques considérations sur les recherches en télédétection micro-ondes axées principalement sur les thémes sol et végétation sont formulées, appuyées sur les contributions du colloque "Signatures Spectrales d'Objets en Télédétec- tion" tenu à Avignon du 8 au 11 septembre 1981. - Les paramétres détectés par les capteurs micro-ondes sont liés aux pro- priétés géométriques de la cible (rugosité du sol, géométrie du couvert)et à ses propriétés diélectriques (teneur en eau du sol et celle du couvert). Les infor- mations fournies présentent donc une complémentarité avec celles des capteurs travaillant dans d'autres bandes spectrales. - Il est possible de déterminer des configurations de mesure (fréquence, polarisation, incidence) pour l'observation sélective du sol et de la végétation. Dans ces conditions, des relations quantitatives pouvant étre généralisées sont obtenues entre les réponses radar et certains xat cibles (humidité du sol, teneur en eau d'un couvert). - Il a été recommandé à la conclusion générale du colloque, de mettre l'ac- cent sur les recherches dans le domaine des micro-ondes - recherches peu nombreu- ses à l'heure actuelle. ABSTRACT Some considerations on microwave remote sensing researchs are presented -based on contributions of the Colloquium on "Spectral Signatures of Objects in Remote Sensing". - The physical content of microwave sensor responses is related to geome- tric and dielectric properties of the object. The information acquired are com- plementary to that obtained in other spectral bands. - Selective observations of vegetation canopy are possible through a pro- per choice of microwave frequency, polarisation, incidence. Quantitative rela- tionships -which can be generalized- are obtained between radar responses and certain target parameters (soil moisture, water content of a canopy). - It was recommended in the general conclusion of the colloquium to put the emphasis on microwave remote sensing researchs in the future.
